Here's a little

As you know I have decided that 2011 is the year to decorate my home.  So in my quest to do so I have started some projects.  I am not completely finished but I figure I'll show you what I have been working on.

1.  KC's room do you remember it looked like this:

Now we have come to this:
the wall you see when you walk in the room

the dress she wore for her dedication

my diy bedskirt

monogramed headboard

I added trim to the lamp

looking in from the doorway

Things left to do:
new hardware on dresser
fix drawer and repaint dresser
hang shelves on wall
hang letters for monogram on wall
get or make throw pillows
add window treatments

So this is the work done in my KC's room.  I will show you more work from another room on another day.  I feel you have dealt with my rambling long enough.  Please give me feedback and any suggestions you may have.  After all I am learning.

  1. Cute room. I love the bedskirt.
You left a comment on my blog about framing the mirros. Here are two websites that I used to help me. http://showandtell-sausha.blogspot.com/2010/05/framed-mirror-tutorial.html and http://www.myuncommonsliceofsuburbia.com/2010/05/fancy-up-your-mirrors.html. I used the plastic molding and tried to use double sided tape but it didn't work. Hope these help.
Just read your profile and I can totally relate. I moved from Cali to Virginia. It's another world on the east coast.

  7. Thank you all for the comments. The bedskirt is just some fabric I found that I used hem fusing and velcro to attach it to the frame. @ Rachel we call her KC so much that she is on the roll at church as KC and I had some people ask why I just gave her 2 letters as a name. I thought that was quite funny.

  13. Hello, Chandra! I'm not exactly sure how to contact you, but I wanted to respond to your questions that you asked on my blog yesterday. (I've added a contact page, so that may be helpful if you have additional questions in the future.)

Anyways, congratulations on your return to homeschooling next year! As for CC, yes... the parents stay with their children the whole time. If you have two children in different classes, then you may be able to rotate between the two (spending time in each class), though most likely spending more time with the younger than the older, IYKWIM. That said, it was our community's first year and it worked out for us that my little man's class was mostly boys (and their siblings) and the other class was mostly girls (and their siblings), so age wasn't so much a factor this year when it came to dividing up the classes, because the average age range w/siblings was from 4-7ish. It worked for our campus. If you have a younger who won't actually be participating, but will be there with you, you'll most likely want to bring something to keep her entertained, though I know that some of the moms in our community had a designated room w/someone always attending the little ones. You could get together with other moms in your community and organize something similar.

Just so you know, I only use CC as a supplement to what we do at home, though I know that others use it as their spine and expound upon what they've learned in CC, at home. If you do end up participating in a CC community this fall (Cycle 3), you'll want to make sure you're doing at least your own math and language arts (phonics, spelling, writing, reading) programs at home. Here are a few links to some interesting reads that you may find helpful. Let me know if you have any additional questions, as I will be happy to help.

  15. I love vintage beds!!! Her room is so darling, I like the bed skirt a ton - it looks great with her bedding -- The bed skirt fabric would also looking darling as curtains or solid color curtains with pom pomps ?? Thinking out loud :)

  16. @ Mrs. Chic I have been thinking about what to do for the curtains. I was thinking white with the fabric of the bedskirt as a trim or just another complementary fabric. I'm unsure. OH and don't worry I started thinking about #3 when I was still pregnant with #2. I soooooooo wanted a girl.
